System environment variables
To resolve issues and bugs, the GEM-CAR development team may require some data from your computers. This data is necessary to run proper investigations and diagnostic tools and figure out what is going wrong with some features. If you run into bugs while using GEM-CAR 14 or 2022 and you contact technical support agents, they might ask you to create system environment variables in Windows 10 or 11. These variables will allow GEM-CAR 14 and 2022 to collect and send the required data to the development team.
GEM-CAR Environment variables
V2VLogging
This environment variable allows GEM-CAR 14 and 2022 to collect and send data to the development team concerning the local features. This data could be related to any offline feature on one or several computers on the local network. Define this value to Full to enable the variable or None disables it.
V2VHttpLogging
This environment variable allows GEM-CAR 14 and 2022 to collect and send data to the development team concerning the online features of the software. This data could be related to integrations with suppliers’ websites or any other feature that involves data exchange between GEM-CAR 14 or 2022 and its partners. Define this value to Full to enable the variable or to None to disable it.
DOTNET_ENVIRONMENT
This variable assigns GEM-CAR 14 or 2022 to a development environment. The value of this variable can be either defined to Production or any other value provided by the support team. If it's not defined, it's equivalent to Production.
Create, delete or modify environment variables
If we ask you to add environment variables, first check if they are already on the list. If so, see Modify environment variables. If they are not on the list, see Create new variables. You may need to create environment variables on a single or on several computers on the local network. They can't be deleted or disabled remotely by the GEM-CAR development team. Consequently, if they're no longer required, you can disable or delete them. Some variables can't be disabled or deleted.
