Management of kits

You can create kits to group inventory items and jobs that are frequently used together. This way, when you add them to estimates, you only perform one operation.

Manage kits in the Management of kits window

In the Management of kits window, you can add, edit or delete kits. To open it, follow one of the methods below.

  • In the GEM-CAR 14 Main menu, go to Inventory Management > Management of kits.
  • In the Point of sale, right-click any item on an estimate and select Consult the kit management.

Add kits

Follow the instructions below to create kits in the Management of kits window.

  1. In the upper part of the Management of kits window, select the + button.
  2. Enter a product code and a description and enable or disable options.
  3. Select the Diskette to save.

Add inventory items to kits

Follow the instructions below to add inventory items to kits in the Management of kits window.

  1. In the Upper part of the Management of kits window, select a kit on the list.
  2. In the lower part of the Management of kits window, select the + button.
  3. Enter the product code or retrieve it using the Magnifying glass button and enter the Quantity and Unit sell price.
  4. Select the Diskette to save.

Delete inventory items from kits

Follow the instructions below to delete inventory items from kits in the Management of kits window.

  1. In the Upper part of the Management of kits window, select a kit on the list.
  2. In the lower part of the Management of kits window, select the – button.
  3. When asked, select OK to confirm the deletion.

Edit kits

Follow the instructions below to edit the kit configuration in the Management of kits window.

  1. In the Upper part of the Management of kits window, select a kit on the list.
  2. Modify the product code and the description and enable or disable options.
  3. Select the Diskette to save.

Configure kits

Options

Fixed price (customer discounts and additional margins do not apply): Enable this option to set fixed prices for inventory items included in the kit. The prices won't vary with inventory list price variations and customer discounts and additional margins won't apply.

Department selection

Starting with GEM-CAR 14.0.1, you can associate departments with kits. To do so, use the Department selection drop-down menu.

The sales for the kits will show on the Sales by department report.

Delete kits

Follow the instructions below to delete kits in the Management of kits window.

  1. In the Upper part of the Management of kits window, select a kit on the list.
  2. In the Upper part of the Management of kits window, select the – button.
  3. When asked, select OK to confirm the deletion.

Generate the kit lists

To generate the kit list, select the Printer button. The list will show onscreen and can be printed if need be.

Generate the barcode list for kits

To generate the barcode list for kits, select the Barcode button. The list will show onscreen and can be printed. You can then scan the barcodes to easily add Kits to estimates.

Manage kits in the Point of sale

Create kits

Follow the instructions below to create kits in the Point of sale.

  1. Create or retrieve an estimate and select the inventory items to be included in the kit.
  2. Right-click the selection and select Create the kit.
  3. When asked, enter a description and a price for the kit in the pop-up windows and select OK. If you only want to create a custom kit for the current estimate, you're done. Otherwise, if you want to save it in the inventory, continue to step 4.
  4. To save the kit in the inventory, right-click it and select. Save the kit.
  5. When asked, enter a product code for the kit and confirm the description in the pop-up windows and select OK.

Add inventory items to kits

Follow the instructions below to add inventory items to kits in the Point of sale.

  1. Create or retrieve an estimate and select the inventory items to be included in the kit.
  2. Right-click the selection and select Add to the kit. If you only want to create a custom kit for the current estimate, you're done. Otherwise, if you are creating a new kit and want to save it in the inventory, continue to step 3.
  3. To save the kit in the inventory, right-click it and select Save the kit.
  4. When asked, enter a product code for the kit and confirm the description in the pop-up windows and select OK.
